Atiku calls family of Uwa Omozuwa, as he calls for stricter laws against rapists

Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has phoned the family of late UNIBEN student, Uwa Omozuwa to console them on the sudden loss of their daughter.

Uwa was r.a.p.e.d and murdered at a church in Benin, where she had gone to read.

Calling for stricter laws against rapist in the country, the former number 2 man, tweeted;

”I just spoke to the family of the late Uwa Omozuwa. I expressed my deepest condolences over her rape and murder. I feel their anguish. Sadly, rape is now a pandemic in our country.

”It is time we reviewed the laws on rape to ensure that there are no escape routes in the investigation, prosecution, conviction and adequate punishment for this heinous crime. -AA”

SHORTLY AFTER HIS TWEETS, he got the news of the sudden death of 18-year old Barakat Bello who was r.a.p.e.d and murdered not too far from her father’s house.

”After speaking with the Omozuwa family, my attention was drawn to yet another rape and murder of another young lady, Barakat Bello, in Ibadan. As a father, I know what it is like to deal with such a loss. We are racing against time.

”It is crucial that the rapist(s) of Barakat and all other victims are speedily brought to justice to serve as a deterrent. -AA, his tweets read.
