Agreed Nigerians could be quite stubborn, right, but using the ‘hard way’ is NO WAY. The government has failed woefully to sensitise the citizens. If half of the billions of Naira earmarked for Covid19 was used to sensitise and enlighten the public on Covid19, a better part of this challenge would have been handled. For instance, have you imagined if this Environmental Lagos platform was given like N500m to go out to enlighten and sensitize the Lagos public with resources deployed to get vehicles mounted with megaphones, billboard adverts, handbills distribution, road walks, etc, in all the nooks and crannies of Lagos, against the backdrop of what the platform has done, with environmental, traffic, security and other issues tackled, I bet you, the Government would have just gone to sleep and watch the steady decline of Covid19 cases. But instead, we chose to climb a tree from the top and photo ops. Here we are right now. Have you noticed that 80% of Lagosians no longer wear face masks. Face mask is just the simplest of things to check the spread of Covid19. Right now we are at the mercy of waiting for NCDC to always release its daily Covid19 league standing every midnight and then sigh or heaves, depending on the number of cases our state recorded, and wait for the next night, for updated results. The honest truth is that we are all at risk of this pandemic. We are more at risk if we continue to fail to do what ought to have been done.
