I’ll punish you again, Mayweather tells McGregor-

Floyd Mayweather has called out Conor McGregor for a rematch even after the UFC star announced his retirement from the sport on Sunday.

The two-division Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipWorld Champion said his fighting days were over in a Twitter message posted on his verified account, alongside a picture of the Irishman with his mother, Margaret.

He also took to his Instagram page to announce his retirement with a picture of a cake.

Commenting on McGregor’s Instagram post,  Mayweather has challenged the UFC star to return to combat sports for a rematch.

He wrote, “If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you tell Mike Tyson you could beat me if we fought a second time? Now you’re quitting! I thought you wanted to beat the best? Well, if you decide to come back, I will be waiting to punish you again.”

Mayweather and McGregor fought a landmark boxing rules contest in 2017. The American won in the 10th round, stopping a fatigued McGregor on his feet. The fight earned Mayweather his 50th straight victory.

Reacting to the news, UFC president, Dana White, said, “Nobody is pressuring anybody to fight and if Conor McGregor feels he wants to retire, you know my feelings about retirement — you should absolutely do it.

“If Conor McGregor feels he wants to retire, you know my feelings about retirement, you should absolutely do it,” White said at the post-event press conference.
