INTENSE pressure has continued to mount on the Lagos State Police Command under Ag Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu to release a self acclaimed traditional ruler of Oguntedo community in Satellite town, Alhaji Latifu Sadiku Olarinde and his son Yusufu Olarinde currently detained for multiple murder and sundry crimes in the community and environs.
Impeccable multiple Police sources informed CrimeWorld that a retired Commissioner of People who doubles as a lawyer and who is still relevant in Police affairs (names withheld) had relentlessly made frantic efforts through telephone calls with CP Odumosu and the AIG Zone 2, Ahmed Illyasu including sending a lawyer from his chamber to the two senior officers to ensure that the allegations against the detained notorious killers were dropped and set free. But it was gathered that the duo of CP Odumosu and AIG Illyasu had flatly turned down the request on the ground that the allegations against father and son were weighty; bothering on multiple murder, wanton destruction of properties, extortion and civil disobedience and therefore, needed to be thoroughly investigated and if found culpable, be prosecuted. “Honestly if you know what is going since this man and his pikin were brought here, our CP and AIG have been under pressure to release them. A certain retired CP who is presently serving in one of the Commissions in Abuja and another retired senior woman Police officer simply called Aunty-Ayo have been doing everything to ensure that they release the man and his son and drop every allegation against them. We hear that the royal father gave them acres of lands that he grabbed from people in his community. But it seems our Ogas are not yielding because of their (the suspects’) atrocities and that is why they are still with us.
Recall that Yusufu Olarinde was arrested by intrepid and incorruptible Divisional Police officer, CSP Chike Oti a week ago after a petition on barefaced extortion, incessant civil disturbances and attacks on innocent persons leveled against the ex-convicts. It was hinted that after the arrest of Yusufu Olarinde, he had boasted that he would explore all tentacles particularly in the Police Force and Lagos State Government, to ensure that CSP Oti was redeployed from Satellite Division to the Northern part of the country adding that his cohorts promptly put a call to his father who was at the time, hiding at the neighbouring Benin Republic to evade a Bench Warrant. The distraught father who incidentally is the arrow head of all the atrocities in Satellite town, Abule-Ado, Vin-Niger and ‘Mile 2’ reportedly sneaked into the country and called the said retired Police Commissioner who advised his lawyer to do a counter petition to the AIG zone 2 to that effect. And basking in the deceptive euphoria that the retired CP and one Tunde Faduola (aka TOFEM) an alleged land grabber who is said to be connected to the bigwigs in Lagos State Government were behind him, Alhaji Latifu Olarinde sauntered into AIG Illyasu’s office to submit the petition unknown that he was walking into a snare. To his shock, the AIG ordered his immediate arrest and detention. He was later whisked to the dreaded SARS facility Ikeja, where his son was also being held and also detained.
*Late Oba-elect, Oluekun1, of Oguntedo Royal Family, Oba Babatunde Alade Olarinde…
A member of the Oguntedo Oluekun Royal family, under whom the kingdom authentically rests, said they were gearing up for a total show down with Alhaji Latifu Sadiku Olarinde. He noted that the suspects and cohorts sometime in 2017 exhumed the corpse of the recognized king of the Oguntedo kingdom, late Oba Babatunde Alade Olarinde and burnt it three days after his burial because Latifu Sadiku Olarinde (a cousin to the late king) and cohorts do not want any relics of the late King in the Kingdom. He added, “The kingship tussle of the Oguntedo Community and atrocities of Latifu Sadiku Olarinde and his gang started in 1988 when one Sadiku Ajibola Olarinde and his two sons Latifu Sadiku Olarinde, Sikiru Sadiku Olarinde Instituted a legal action against the principal members of Olarinde family living outside the town that they were not entitled to the new Oguntedo town, but the matter was struck out in our favour and this prompted the head of Olarinde family, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Olarinde with the late King, Oba Babatunde Alade Olarinde and other principal members of the family to file a legal action against Messrs Sakidu Ajibola Olarinde, Latifu Sadiku Olarinde and Sikiru Sadiku Olarinde at an Ikeja High Court in 1988. The Honuorable court delivered judgment in favour of us, the plaintiff namely Alhaji Abdul Azeez Falorunmi Olarinde, Hassan Taiwo Olarinde, Latifu Ishola Olarinde, Tijani Omolaja Olarinde, Suwebatu Olarinde, Rafiu Olarinde, Sidikatu Olarinde, Liadi Sanusi Olarinde, Wahab Saka Olarinde and Alhaji Babatunde Alade Olarinde. And the judgment was affirmed by the Apex court, the supreme court of Nigeria in 1993.
Continuing, he said, “My uncle the late Oba-elect and other members of the Royal family then obtained a warrant of possession from the High Court of Lagos State and execution was against the defendants and trespassers on our family land but the defendants in the said suit, Sadiku Ajibola Olarinde, Latifu Sadiku Olarinde and Sikiru Sadiku Olarinde forcefully returned to the town in defiance of court order with the aid of personnel of the Nigeria Police and thugs in 1994. A charge of contempt for disobeying the judgment of the honorable court was taken against the trio, and they were found guilty guilt and sentenced to 6 months jail term each in 1995. After serving the jail term, they returned again to the town with the aid of Police and thugs and became more vicious and wreaking havoc. We had to approach the Ikeja High court for revalidation of our warrant of possession before we could finally expunge them in September 2012 from Oguntedo town. But Latifu Sadiku Olarinde came back again with the aid of the same senior Police officer who is presently in Abuja, having received acres of land from him started causing more havoc and that led to my late uncle’s temporary exit from the town because by this time Latifu Sadiku Olarinde and his killer gang was killing at will and unchallenged. At a point, he was arrested and jailed for murder; it was while he was in prison that we demolished his houses on the land and the late Oba-elect ascended the throne while waiting for the State Government endorsement. Again, by whatever means, he was released from jail and would not relent on his atrocities. And because the late Oba Babatunde Olarinde was a peaceful man as a trained journalist who worked with the Punch newspapers, he again, exited the community and started fighting from outside but because Latifu had both the Police, army and some government functionaries to his said by arbitrarily giving out acres of land to them, they supported him. he therefore, forcefully ascended the throne even though nobody recognizes him as such. He began to sell and re-sell lands, extort money from innocence shop owners and motorist and killing whoever dares to resist him. Unfortunately while in the struggle to come back to his rightful throne, my uncle, the Oba-elect of the kingdom, Alhaji Babatunde Alade Olarinde took ill and died in February 2017. It took the efforts of the Nigeria Police before we could bury him on the land. But three days after the burial, Latifu Sadiku Olarinde, his son Yusufu Olarinde and some thugs from Benin Republic exhumed the corpse, took it to the express road and burned it to ashes. The matter is the court as I speak with you. That is why we are now ready for him and his cohorts since a particular DPO has exhibited rear guts to reject his money and arrested him and his son and detained them.”
