REVERED General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Pastor Eunuch Adeboye has said that there was nothing as grave and heinous as the crime of rape save for murder and therefore, advocates severe sentence for rapists. The man of God who spoke shortly after the Sunday service monitored on Dove TV on June 14, 2020, specifically referred to the bizarre incident in a Benin Parish of the church where one Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa was raped and murdered, said he would continue to cry to God until all the perpetrators linked to the rape and murder of the 100 level microbiology student of the University of Benin were apprehended. A visibly pained Adeboye said there was no pain as harsh as that experienced by victims of rape and by extension, their parents adding, “Let me put it on record that one of my daughters was recently raped and murdered. There is no pain as that of rape and no pain suffered by parents compared to that of rape of their daughter, except of course, murder. We will cry to the Almighty God, the one who knows all things; not only those who raped my daughter and ended up killing her but everyone who had ever committed rape particularly, in Nigeria and even all other nations of the world, I will cry to my God, the only knowing God to fish them out so that they would face the law. As much as I hate the death sentence because any one who is dead cannot be reached for salvation, I think every form of punishment that could be given to a rapist cannot be considered too severe. So God helping me, and I will keep on crying to God that anyone who will ever think of raping again, the Almighty God will stop them before they even think of doing so, even if it means taking them away from this world to achieve that purpose. And I am calling on Christians all over the world; please join me praying this prayer.”

Recall that the former chorister with the RCCG Ikpoba Hill parish, Benin City was found stark naked in the pool of his blood in the main auditorium of the church on May 27, 2020 with a fire extinguisher cylinder beside her, fueling speculation that her murderers may have raped her before life was snuffed off her. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to UBTH where she gave up the ghost two days after. But before she died, she reportedly muttered some words to the doctors which are now helping Police investigation. Unconfirmed source has said a suspect had been arrested and his fingerprints matched that found on the cylinder. The source also quoted the suspect saying that the unnamed Pastor of the church presently at large contracted him and his sidekicks who are presently on the run to commit the crime on a fee of N1.5 million to cover-up his amorous relationship with the late member of the church that resulted in pregnancy.
